JAMIE HENCE

 

Meet Jamie Hence - Total Body Fitness Trainer

Jamie Hence discovered his gift 34 years ago in Michigan where he began coaching track & field and football both at the collegiate (Western Michigan University) and high school (Kalamazoo Central HS) levels. While at WMU he coached two Mid-American Track and Field Championship teams. He continued to coach his own children in basketball, football and track over the years in North Carolina, Indiana and Ohio. 

 

Due to his innate ability to understand what his athletes need to succeed, he began a personal training business here in Ohio where his results have proven successful at the junior high, high school and collegiate levels - locally and nationally. He has coached numerous high school state champions and a host of national champions in track and field. He has trained athletes in football, basketball, track and field, volleyball, lacrosse, etc.… Coach Jamie has been a personal trainer for over 15 years and maintains an active clientele of Central Ohio. 

 

Coach Jamie has over 29 years of experience at Nationwide Insurance, serving in various leadership roles. Currently, he is the Assistant Head Track Coach at Pickerington High School North where he coached the boys sprinters to 2 State Championship and 3 Runner-up titles (2012-2021) outdoors.  His accolades also include 1 Indoor state title and 1 indoor runner up title.  He is President and coach of the Pacesetters Track club (pacesetterstrackclub.com) where he won the 2011 and 2012 Ohio Youth Runner Middle School State Championship and was named Coach of the Year respectively.  The name of his business is HenceTBF, SS (Hence Total Body Fitness, Speed Specialist.) He and his wife of 30 years, Felicia, live in Pickerington and have two adult sons, Jamie II and Austin who also competed in football and track at the collegiate level.

 

Collegiate Accomplishments

A standout in both track & field and football Hence was inducted into Western Michigan University’s Hall of Fame in 2000.

 

Jamie Hence was a 1988 Indoor Track All-American after placing fifth in the 55-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Track Championships. He ranks No. 2 in the 55 hurdles (7.26), No. 3 in the 110 hurdles (13.99) on WMU's all-time performers list. He placed 1st at the TAC National Championships and second in the 110 hurdles at the 1986 Pan American Jr. Games. He also represented the USA in the 1st World Junior Championships held in Athens Greece. On the gridiron, Hence was an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American and an All-MAC First Team pick in 1987. He also holds the Western Michigan single-game record for receptions (16) and was fifth in career touchdown catches (15). He was honored as a MAC All-Academic First Team pick in 1988. He was also a leading receiver on the WMU’s 1988 Mid-American Football Championship team.
